How long has everyone been telling you that Google loves blogs? Months? Years? Well, it’s true, and I wanted to share an experience that helps reinforce that truth to you.

The Blog That Resurrected My Rankings

I had a site devoted to a particular type of exercise equipment. The site was in the top 7 results for its keywords in Google for over six months. Unfortunately I had server problems and the site went down for a few days. Google crawled the site constantly because it was well-linked, and so big G knew instantly that the site was down. Since it stayed down for a few days, Google must have decided it wasn’t coming back up, and its rankings plummetted.

After the site did come back up, it reappeared in Google, but this time on the third page (ranking 25 - 28 for its keywords, on average). Its original page one rankings just wouldn’t come back. I shrugged it off as a lesson learned and basically forgot about the site.

Early last week, though, I was testing a tool I’m creating that helps you write and post blog posts to Wordpress blogs super fast. I decided to setup a blog on the site that lost its rankings, just to test it out. I made a bunch of blog posts (they were post-dated so they would show up slowly over time), and sat back to see what would happen.

To my surprise, over the weekend my site jumped back onto page one for its rankings. I hadn’t touched that site in months, and now it’s ranking better than it ever was — at #4 for 3 great sets of keywords. This, of course, has spiked my AdSense earnings for the site.

Another nice benefit of the new blog is that the blog itself is getting some additional traffic from Google, even though the blog does not have any external links directly to it. Google is applying the authority of the site itself to the blog. Since the site is well-linked, the blog is given a bit of “trust” by Google and is appearing in the search results as well.

Scraper Sites Can Help You Rank

On a related note regarding blogs and traffic, I’ve recently setup a blog that automatically creates a bunch of posts each day based on a variety of keywords. This blog is a test for a larger idea I have in mind, and the test is working great, with the blog having achieved more than 12,000 unique visitors in the last 5 days. The vast majority of the traffic has come from Google.

As part of that same test, I setup a second, similar blog that does the same kind of thing. Despite the second blog actually having more content, it has (so far) received no joy from Google at all (it’s not even indexed yet).

The difference is in the scraper sites that are referencing the content. The keywords that I’m creating content around for my successful blog is a scraper magnet — hundreds of scraper sites are auto-posting content from my own blog to theirs, and giving a reference link back to my blog posts to try and make it more legit.

How do these scraper sites know about my brand-new blog posts so fast? Because the blog is indexed by Google’s blog search, and many scraper sites scrape results from that blog search to post to their own blogs. They also scrape many other blog search engines, and since my blog pings those search engines when I make a new post, the blog’s content gets picked up and spread around fast.

Those links from these automated scraper sites have resulted in my blog quickly gaining hundreds of backlinks from all over the web, and that means great rankings for the pages of my blog.

The second test blog I setup, however, has not attracted the scraper blogs and so hasn’t even been indexed in Google yet. It might seem strange that scraper sites can help you rank, but if they link back to the source of the content, they really can.

Trackbacks Are Your Friend

On a final note, I recommend setting up your blog to automatically post trackback links to the blog posts that you link out to. If you’re not familiar with trackbacks, it’s a simple concept: any time you link to an external blog post from within your own blog post, your blog posts a “comment” to the blog post you’ve linked to, letting the readers of that post know about your own post referencing it.

Now, not all blogs will approve your trackback link, but many will, and I’ve received literally thousands of visitors from a single trackback link appearing on a popular blog. So make sure you setup your blog to automatically post trackbacks to the blogs that you link out to — it can often result in a flood of traffic.

Most of the financial news regarding the economy has been pretty dismal over the past few months. Plummeting stocks, failing banks, hundreds of billions of dollars being passed around in the hopes of fixing it all. People are understandably worried about the economy, their jobs, their homes and their credit.

Meanwhile, in the past 3 months my net income has risen 20% even though I’ve only been working an hour or two per day since my son was born. How is that possible? It’s simple: Internet Marketing is very resistant to the economic woes facing other industries. Let’s talk about why.

Advertising

Television and radio are kept alive by the ROI (return on investment) of their sponsors, and the commercial web is no different. The advantage of advertising online is that it’s far more efficient. When a sponsor puts an ad on a television show or radio program, they can only be vaguely certain of who is watching or listening. Sure the networks provide their own research in demographics and how large their audience is, but much of it is guesswork and impossible to know for sure.

Also, results from TV and radio are very difficult to track. How do you know if the person who just bought your widget was motivated to do so by seeing or hearing your commercial? Again, it’s guesswork.

The internet is different. When you place an ad online, you can track exactly how many people saw it, precisely how many people responded (clicked-through) and exactly how much money you earned from it. You can work to refine and improve your ads to improve your ROI as well. It’s vastly superior to TV and radio in that regard.

So when it comes time for companies to tighten their belts, it only makes sense that they will focus on the ad medium that has the best ROI.

What does this mean for you, the Internet Marketer? It means that your advertising-driven web sites that use AdSense or other programs will likely remain relatively healthy during hard times. My own AdSense income has not changed much despite the economic troubles, which is no surprise to me. It’s also good news for anyone in the search engine optimization business (or related businesses such as pay-per-click), since they, too offer great ROI opportunities.

Selling Information

Another reason that Internet Marketing does well when other sectors are having problems is that people who lose their jobs in those other sectors often turn to the Internet to try and earn a living. When an industry starts having problems, people who lose their jobs in that industry often have a very hard time finding work in the same industry. If they can’t find a job, what can they do? Again, many turn to the Internet — the “new economy.”

Unfortunately, there are a lot of sharks out there ready to take advantage of these individuals. But for those of us who are honestly offering real opportunities and solutions, we find even more customers during such hard times.

Leveling the Risk

A third reason why Internet Marketing tends to do well even when things look gloomy everywhere else is because the Internet makes it much easier to level your risk. I have customers in 60+ countries. When one country’s economy isn’t doing so well, another’s is flying high, and so I’m less affected. A unique advantage of doing business on the web.

So stay focused on your online business, and remember that you’re in a better position to weather the storm than most.

If you are looking for a quick and easy way to generate a lot of ideas for a great number of different blog postings for your websites, this article is for you. I’m going to give you a tried-and-true method that consistently works for me. When you have mastered this technique you will be able to generate 50 blog post ideas in 50 minutes — no kidding!

First of all let me say this: if you prefer to write everything down on paper, then you would want to do this with your tablet in front of you. On the other hand, if you prefer to type, you would want to do this with your favorite computer text-entry application open and ready-to-go. You can experiment with either approach and find which one works best for you — I prefer to do this using paper because it forces me to “disconnect” from the computer screen in order to do some creative thinking.

Ready? Excited? Okay then, here’s what you do — on your piece of paper (or computer screen) number 50 lines — from 1 to 50. At the top of your paper write down the link text phrase that you want to use — having it in front of you will serve as a reminder when you are trying to generate ideas.

Now on each line, write down a suggested title for a blog post. Nothing else — just the TITLE. When you get a little experience in doing this, you’ll be able to formulate a title that will encapsulate the central thought that you want to communicate in that blog post. If you use paper, you may find it best to use a full-size tablet, so you’ll have plenty of room to write. I prefer to use steno notebooks — simply flip them on their side and you’ll have more room — you can write across the length, and you can flip the pages over easily due to the spiral binding. I hold them so that the spiral binding is to my right, and I flip the pages over using my pen hand — I don’t write on the other side (I am right-handed; if you are a lefty, just reverse the notebook so that the spiral binding is on your left). I also a hard-copy notebook because they can be used as a reference in the future if you need blogging ideas…

I recommend that you just go through your entire numbered list and jot down a title — many people find it much easier to “flesh out” the wording of the individual blog posts once they have a title written. At least I do — and with a little bit of practice and patience, you will soon find that this technique will also work for you.

Try to write down a different blog post title within 60 seconds. Don’t try and do anything more with that post right then — just move on to another title. If you can come up with a new title every minute, then you will have generated 50 blog post ideas in under an hour! Once you have your 50 titles, you can go back and work on each of your blog posts separately, filling in the additional wording.

Oftentimes, I will think of some specific points I want to make in my blog post — in that case, here’s what I do: Next to that blog post title, I add an asterisk or star symbol. On the back side of that page, I write down the post title number, and note a few bullet points as reminders of what I want to cover . You can note these points very quickly on the back of the pages, and then turn the page over and get back to generating titles quickly — it’s important not to lose momentum! Once you have your 50 post titles written (and a few bullet points/reminders about specific points to be covered here and there) you can take your tablet or notebook, fire up the PC and begin to write your blog posts.

Why does this approach work so well? Here’s what I think: Many of us blog for backlinks inefficiently because we are trying to do several things at one time: generate ideas, fill out content, type (for the most part a mechanical act), check our spelling, deal with the system interface for submitting the posts, etc. By using this method, you are separating the “creative” work (generating idea content) from the “mechanical” work (typing, spell checking, submitting through the interface).

This method also helps you to overcome “writer’s block” because you will be less likely to interrupt your train of thought (your creative mental processes) — you will not be stopping to type everything in, spell-check, submit via a web form, etc. You will stay “in the flow” until you have all your concepts captured (written down).

Try this method for the next 30 days and you’ll see a dramatic improvement in the quality and quantity of your blog postings. I guarantee it. I have written over 800 blog posts in the past month alone (for promoting my own sites, as well as for other clients), and I’m telling you — this works.

50 blog post ideas in 50 minutes — you CAN do it!

Because there are so many blogs and web sites about blogs on the internet, it can be tough to distinguish your blog from all of the others.  Whether you are starting up a new site aimed at bloggers or whether you are looking to make your existing blog more distinctive, the key to building and maintaining a site that will capture the interest and attention of the blogging community is finding your niche.

If you can fill a unique need that no other web site does, you’ll be able to build a lasting readership among web surfers. Once you have discovered a niche, there’s still work to do, but finding your place in the blogosphere is the place to begin.

Every great blog starts with a great idea, and you can’t build a successful site that will last without one. There are many great sites aimed at today’s bloggers, and competition for the attention of this growing demographic is fierce. To make your blog stand out from the pack, you will need to offer something that no other site is currently offering, or you will need to do the same thing that an already popular site does but in a more impressive or valuable way.

One way to discover an ideal model for your blog is to look at the sites that have successfully captured a blogging audience already to determine if you can appropriate some of their strategies to help realize your vision. Of course, you will also need to add a unique flair to your project in order to stand apart from your competition.

Many people agree that the web sites that do the best in today’s market are the sites that have the most personality.  The fiercely individual surfers who are bloggers are a demographic that responds especially strongly to personality, so consider how you can give your site a unique and attractive feeling by lending your own voice and sensibility to your site’s design and content.

Once you have a great idea for your site, have pinpointed a special niche that you are well equipped to fill, and have infused the site with personality, the next step is figuring out how to get the word out to bloggers.  In the long run, a great idea just isn’t enough to propel your blog to success. You will need to draft a smart and realistic marketing plan in order to draw readers to your site.  Once you hook a blogger, good content will keep them coming back, but it is vital to get that first glance or your site won’t have a chance to shine.

“Attract Stampedes of FREE Traffic From Google
When You
Hire An SEO Expert… For Just $2.95!”

Review Of Derek Gehl’s “Search Marketing Labs”:

Attracting crowds of qualified buyers with a top ranking in Google, Yahoo, and MSN just got a whole lot easier… and cheaper.

The term “search engine optimization” used to be synonymous with difficult and expensive. Not any more.

Because thanks to Derek Gehl’s latest release, you do NOT need to be intimidated by terms like “keyword density” and “optimization” anymore. And you certainly don’t need to outsource your search engine traffic campaigns to third-party experts for exorbitant fees of $3,000-$10,000!

Instead, you can finally “do it yourself” and enjoy substantial increases in your traffic and sales with the expert guidance of your very own, private SEO consultant…

… Who will help blast your website to a top listing in Google, Yahoo, and MSN!

All for the ridiculously low investment of just $2.95.

There’s absolutely no guesswork.

First, Derek gives you a series of online videos that walk you through the baby step basics of getting your website search engine ready.

Then, using the same clear, no-BS teaching style, you’ll be shown how to apply the very same advanced SEO strategies that Derek and his team have used to secure a Top 5 ranking in Google for 3 years running…

… And beat out over 294 Million competitors including many multi-million dollar corporations!

And then, just in case you need some extra hand-holding, you’ll have unlimited access to Derek’s very own in-house SEO expert in a secret discussion forum, where you can ask unlimited questions about your specific search engine campaign!

This alone is EASILY a $1500-$3000 value — but Derek’s giving you unlimited access to his private SEO expert for the next 30 days for just $2.95.

Get all the details HERE.

When Derek first launched his “Search Marketing Lab” approximately one year ago, I didn’t pay much attention.

My mistake.

Because today, he’s got testimonials lined up around the block — all regular people who started with ZERO or mediocre traffic, who attract 5,000 to 40,000+ visitors every month using these secrets.

The majority of SEO books, courses, and seminars you’ll find out there are a waste of money, not worth the paper they’re printed on, because they’re not kept up-to-date.

But since “Search Marketing Lab” gives you the same SEO strategies that Derek’s currently using on his own site (www.marketingtips.com), which is reported to attract over 1.8 Million visitors every month, you can be sure you’ll be the first to know when there’s a major search engine change…

… And the first to PROFIT from Derek’s hard won SEO research, newest optimization techniques, and late-breaking developments.

I recommend very few SEO resources to my clients. But this tops my list.

And the $2.95 Trial that Derek is giving away right now is a steal. To get yours before he shuts it down…

I heard from Michael Badger that Techsmith is making Camtasia Studio 3.1.2 free to download.

You can use Camtasia to record, edit and share your videos.  This was my first shot at using Camtasia, but it’s pretty easy to use.

You can upgrade to Camtasia Studio 5 only if you want to for $149, but this version should get the job done.

To Get the free version:

Download Camtasia Studio 3 (Executable file).

To get the software key, click the link to register

Install and once you have the program open, enter the software key and you’ll have a full working version.
