Anyone who owns a website needs traffic to survive and become successful in their business.  Therefore, driving traffic to your website has become an important factor in internet marketing.  As a website owner, you have written numerous articles, offered valuable information, and probably have done several other creative things to try to promote your website and bring as much traffic as possible to your site.

Obviously, if you have a website, you are trying to reach out to the whole internet community, the whole world actually to make the information you have provided available. Now you have to determine how to reach as many internet users as you can.  However, most websites are owned by an individual rather than a large company.  These people have limited funds to use for advertising and therefore rely on themselves for promotional purposes.

Unfortunately, most individuals who own operate and maintain these websites do not have the luxury of an advertising budget to offer out to high end agencies.  Website owners are in need of a very inexpensive way to reach out to internet users to help create a large potential customer population for their businesses.  Driving traffic to websites with email marketing has become a major influence in internet marketing.  This method can be the answer to any of the website owners advertising and promotion concerns.

One very effective yet simple way to drive traffic to your site via email is to include your URL and a brief description of your site in your email signature.  Everyone who receives an email from you will then take note of this information and possibly visit your site.  Just think about this, you can send a joke to your friends who in turns send it to another friend and so on and so on.  All of these people down the line will see your URL and have access to your site.  This can eventually build up to thousands or possibly even millions of possible potential customers for you just by sending one email to a friend.  This method sometimes works at a slow pace but still proves to be effective.  One thing you can be sure of is that it is a very inexpensive and easy way to promote your site.

Another effective promoting tool associated with email marketing is the use of link exchanges.  The idea is to find other sites covering similar subjects and offer to exchange links with this site.  You will include a link to their site on your website and they will do the same for you.  This method is very effective as well as inexpensive.  An email campaign can be directed at the owners of the sites which can propose a link exchange arrangement.

Writing press releases regarding is another effective way to drive traffic to your site.  You can write a press release and distribute it via email to online press release services.  You can also send these press releases to newspapers, magazines and other media organizations.  Be sure to always include your URL to effectively promote your site.

Making Money with B2C Marketing

The internet has brought doing business to a new level.  In the simplest terms, businesses become successful by selling products and services to customers.  Traditionally, business could only be conducted during their self-made business hours and to only people living within a short distance to the actual company.

The internet has dramatically changed this concept in ways that were not even fathomed ten years ago.  In the age of convenience that we now live in, it is actually easier to make money with a business with a consumer marketing plan than with previous methods used.  This is true because millions of people every day surf the internet searching for products and services and they have  just about everything at their fingertips.  Many people turn to the internet to make everyday purchases.  Most people search products extensively online prior to making a purchase and then as a result of their search, make their actual purchase on the websites found within their search.

With internet access widely popular among homes and businesses internationally, online shopping is more popular then ever.  The way people shop in this day and age has dramatically changed.  The convenience of shopping on the internet is simply too great to pass up.  The need to actually go out and search for desired items is no longer necessary.  Businesses see this as a huge opportunity for them.  Many sites offer great deals to attract consumers and keep them coming back over and over again.

Even when including shipping costs, some deals that are offered through sites make it hard to refuse making a purchase online.  Just the concept of shopping from the comfort of your own home is too good to decline.  This can be very beneficial to businesses because they no longer need to have 9 to 5 hours to make money.  Most websites are automated to the point where a person is not even needed to complete transactions.  Customers can search for and purchase items with their credit cards or other payment methods.  This is greatly beneficial to a business because a customer can make purchases any time day or night from any location in the world.

Different strategies work for different business in making profits on their website.  The level of marketing that is necessary greatly depends on the product or service.  Some businesses offer products that are not easily found by other sites.  This helps them when a potential customer does a search and their business is the top business in the search.  Needless to say, this business does not need extensive marketing to be successful.  Other businesses need some assistance in guiding traffic to their site.  The key is to have a user-friendly site where people feel comfortable doing transactions regardless of their expertise level.

As with any business, the key to success is to make money without spending a lot of money.  The cost of advertising depends on the product and can range from very high costs to no cost at all.

Profit With Internet Marketing

September 27, 2006 by Ruth · Comment

With some planning and initiative, almost anyone can earn a substantial profit with internet marketing.  The best part is that it can be done all in the comfort of your own home.  In fact, some very successful internet entrepreneurs work all day in their pajamas.  How can that be?  How can you get involved in this business?  After reading this article, you too will know the tricks of the trade and the ins and outs of internet marketing.

The first step in becoming successful with internet marketing is to carefully decide on the product or service you will sell.  Online auctions have become a very successful way to make money online.  In fact, some people have found it to be so profitable that they were able to quit their day jobs to concentrate fully on their auctions.  Internet based bookstores are also another effective way to make money online.

Many of them allow a person to sell a used book online paying only a percentage to the bookstore.  Some people see this as a business opportunity just as a man in Kansas City has done.  People actually go to flea markets and garage sales and purchase books at very low prices.  They then check the value of the book online, then re-sell it for a profit.  At last count, this Kansas City man was earning an average of $200 to $500 per month with this simple process of internet marketing.

Information products offer a high level of profits for many people involved with internet marketing.  By writing an ebook, you have the opportunity to sell it over and over again thousands of times without depleting the resource.  If the ebook contains useful information required by many people for various reasons, they may be willing to pay top dollar for the pdf version online.

Sometimes online shoppers who are in need of a specific book will be willing to pay up to $50 for an ebook, possibly from you.  Once they make a purchase, you will have access to their email address.  This can be very beneficial to you because you can include them on future private mailing lists.

By sending a newsletter to everyone on your mailing list, you are offering information about other products and services you have available and this is considered as back end selling.  This will eventually increase your chances of making profits.  By broadening your potential community of customers, you are also creating a new promotion possibility for yourself because each happy customer will tell a friend who will also tell a friend.  After creating a following, a great idea would to be to write a sequel to your book, knowing that most on your mailing list will purchase it.

Another wise move would be for you to sell advertising to advertisers who want to have contact with people included on your mailing list.  By doing something as simple as this, you are making yourself an author, a publisher and an advertising entrepreneur without ever leaving the comfort of your own home.  This will of course, greatly increase your profit margin and lead you down the road to success.

Affiliate Marketing Concerns

September 26, 2006 by Ruth · Comment

Before you can have an understanding of the concerns regarding affiliate marketing you must first understand what affiliate marketing is.  Affiliate marketing is the concept which allows anyone to promote someone else’s products or services for a profit.  The merchant will offer a commission on a result basis if a product is sold.  The merchant encourages as many website owners as possible to also become affiliates, therefore resulting in more sales for the merchant.

For instance, if you are in the business of writing and preparing professional resumes, you have the ability of using the affiliate program method in two ways.  You can encourage other website owners to become affiliates and make a percentage of earnings.  If you charge an average of $100 for a resume package, you can pay a percentage to the website owner that links their site to yours.

A community calendar website, for example, may include a banner ad on the site for your resume services site.  When a reader visits the community calendar and clicks on the link to your site, he may consider buying a resume.  This method will always bring more traffic to your site which of course will increase your chances at making sales.

On the other hand, a person who receives payment as an affiliate, their websites will usually offer links to connected subjects.  Keeping with our example of resume writing, your website will include links to sites containing information on career counseling, or job search techniques or similar subjects.  When readers are on your resume writing website, they click on the link bringing them to other related sites, creating more traffic and possibly more sales to your affiliate sites.

You will then earn a commission on their sale, without doing any of the work.  This creates a circle of sales which can benefit both sides with this method.  This way, all the of the website owners are helping each other by advertising for each other at no cost rather than spending large amounts of money paying advertising agencies to do it for them.

This method, however, does have its concerns.  Most importantly, the first question you should ask is, how much money will I actually make?  This, of course depends on the type of service you are offering.  If you have a high-volume website, you can make a substantial amount of money.  Next affiliates will probably ask, how will I get paid?  Most companies will pay you by sending you a check, however, there are other methods used for making payments.  The affiliate should consider, is this actually legitimate and for real?  Naturally, you should always read the FAQ’s and fine print and ask any question you may have.

Affiliate marketing is an excellent way for people to make money without too much expense and the usual headaches that comes with having your own products or services.

CPA Affiliate Programs

I read a report today about CPA advertising.  Although I had heard of Cost Per Action affiliate programs.  I never bothered to take a look.

Well Scott Boulch did a great job in his report about how you can make money with these type programs.

From what I read, it seems to be a simple process, but as with anything it requires learning the strategies that work.  He does have some great strategies laid out in his report of his personal experience with one of his CPA programs.

If you want to learn more about CPA advertising, just go to the website and download the first report which is called “The Death Of Adsense, And The Return to Common Sense” and the second report is called “Life After Adsense, Climbing The Internet Marketing Food Chain.”

I don’t have an opinion one way or the other about The Death Of Adsense, but I do believe you can make some money as a CPA affiliate and I think I can learn something from Scott.  I also think the main point Scott is trying to make is not to put all of your eggs in one basket and I agree with him on that!

Make Money Online By Attending Workshops

If you pay close attention to the fliers sent in your mail, you have a good chance of finding a way to make money online. You probably get invitations to workshops or seminars on a regular basis. Various businesses sell their knowledge about multiple ways to make money online. Their familiarity with marketing can motivate almost any individual to purchase their products. Attending workshops are a tremendous value in helping you start and maintain a lucrative business.

Such workshops also provide detailed information about different kinds of Internet businesses that anyone can get involved in. They guide the interested individual through the necessary steps involved in the set-up process of a business.

Here are a few things you will learn by attending workshops:

1.  Laying a strong foundation for your business

2.  Understanding your market

3.  Developing customers

4.  Getting people to buy from you

5.  Promotion and sales

6.  Making sound financial decisions

7.  Price for greatest profits

8.  Controlling cost and managing taxes

9.  Learning about the latest technology

These workshops also shed a lot of light on the use of links to other websites and using them effectively.  One relatively simple way to make money online involves selling any item or service on Ebay. The owner of any small home-based business would appreciate knowing that Ebay started as a home business. EBay was founded in Pierre Omidyar’s San Jose living room back in September 1995.

At the start of that business, the home-based operation called Ebay did not generate a lot of money.  However, as word of its existence spread, Ebay began to bring its owners lots of money. And just look where the owners of Ebay find themselves today.  Now Ebay stock is traded on the floors of major stock exchanges.

I mention Ebay because I went to a local workshop where they were teaching a course about How to Sell on Ebay.  There are individuals that have workshops throughout the country on how to sell on Ebay.  I learned a lot and I still enjoy selling items on Ebay to this day.  The history of Ebay offers tremendous amounts of hope to any individual who wants to start making money online.

I have gained so much insight from all the workshops I’ve attended over the years.  So try to find workshops in your area to attend.  You will be rewarded with a wealth of knowledge about starting your own business.

He has some screen shots of his income in the report and all I can say is WOW!

Why Merchants Encourage Affiliate Marketing Programs

September 14, 2006 by Ruth · Comment

More and more merchants, big and small, are introducing their own versions of affiliate marketing programs in e-commerce community every day simply because it allows them to earn more!

One of the biggest appeals of affiliate marketing for merchants is the savings they gain since they no longer have to carry out their own online advertising and promotion. The savings incurred by merchants who have gained a well-established presence and success in the affiliate marketing program is such that some of them barely conduct any promotional activity to generate of more sales.

Although this does not weaken their current sales in the online business, they fail to exploit the full potential of generating more revenues for their online business and their affiliates by taking advantage of after-sales marketing strategies.

Therefore, a merchant must still conduct some form of advertising regardless if he has an effective affiliate marketing program, and hundreds of affiliates conducting the promotions for him. The merchant must look into making a second or even a third sale to the customers he has acquired. Such practice is generally called after-sales marketing. Extending and modifying the practice of after-sales marketing to the Internet can complement affiliate marketing.

Here are some ways that a merchant or even an affiliate can perform after-sales marketing:

Newsletters: Whether through email or sent through snail mail, these publications are perfect avenues to introduce other products to past clients on your mailing list. These other products can be support or complimentary products of the original your sold or a totally different one.

Therefore, in the merchant’s affiliate website, there should be a part where the customer is asked whether he would like to receive free newsletters from the online company.  If the customer clicks yes, then this customer is taken to another web page where he can enter his email or mailing address. When the client agrees, make sure to inform him that his name will never be sold or provided to another party.

Thank You Letters: Send your client a thank you letter for patronizing the merchant’s products as a form of business courtesy. However, in the body of the letter, be sure to include other products that you promote in which the client may have an interest in the future.

Customer Satisfaction Emails: Aside from the original thank you letter, you can send a follow up email a month after the product purchase to inquire if the client is satisfied with the product he bought. Aside from the fact that the email positively shows the affiliate’s concern for the client, the opportunity also provides an avenue to mention other available products and services.

Customers Only Webpage: Integrating a webpage for clients only in your website where online support and discussions among other users of the products can be maintained is another marketing opportunity. The webpage can include links and banners for other related or complimentary products.

Exploiting after-sales marketing strategies and realizing its benefits are relatively easier since the client has already given his trust after the initial purchase.

Advantages and Disadvantages of Affiliate Marketing

September 14, 2006 by Ruth · Comment

Affiliate marketing is a joint and mutually beneficial business partnership between merchants and website publishers/owners (affiliates) whereby an affiliate is compensated for every visitor or client provided through his effort (website banner or text link). The moment a customer makes a purchase of goods or service, part of the profit generated from that particular transaction is credited to the affiliates account as a commission. Amounts of compensation may be based on a fixed value for each visit (pay-per-click), registration (pay-per-lead), or for every purchaser (pay-per-sale).

However, just like a coin, the affiliate marketing program also has its obverse and reverse side.

Advantages:

Merchants gain a wider place to sell their products and services, resulting to more customers and more sales.

Merchants can gain more customers without spending valuable time in searching for them.

Programs that track compile statistics from affiliate sites provide reliable and current client behavior on trends and demands at no extra cost.

The affiliate marketing program provides an easy way to create additional sources of income for website publishers and owners. Marketing banners of merchants’ products generate instant sales wherein they get a commission.

It does not require a sizeable investment on the part of the affiliate.

The affiliate does not have to worry about customer support, book keeping, and e-commerce related headaches since in affiliate marketing, the merchant handles it all; all the affiliate needs to do is promote and resell the product.

An affiliate marketer enjoys the luxury of being his own boss and work on his own time. He can work only for a few hours or more and generate income 24/7 wherever he may be located in the world.

An affiliate marketer can still maintain his present work or business and have the affiliate marketing income supplement his financial position. With a laptop and wi-fi connection, anybody can work almost anywhere even while enjoying on vacation.

For clients, they do not have to drive all the way to the merchant’s store or retailer to physically buy the product or engage the services of a service provider.

These are only some of the advantages of affiliate marketing. However, it is also best to be aware that this online business also has some disadvantages.

Disadvantages:

There is the possibility that some merchants may incur high commission costs and costly set up and maintenance fees due to affiliate facilitators/brokers.

The affiliates may engage in false and misleading advertising in order to get sales commissions. Unscrupulous affiliates may make claims and promises regarding the product and services, which are completely wrong or extremely exaggerated. In cases like these, the merchant usually receives the complaints and lose any potential consumer.

Unscrupulous and dishonest merchants may arbitrarily close down programs without informing the affiliates and without paying commissions.

Merchants may promise high commissions to attract new affiliates then drop commission rates after a week or two.

Link hijackers can hijack affiliate links and get paid for the commissions instead.

There are also false advertising, unlawful use of trade names, logos, or brands.

No matter these disadvantages, affiliate marketing still remains as one of the best ways to make money online. Marketers simply have to understand that by doing their homework and research before hand and by implementing simple security measures, they can easily negate all these disadvantages in order to enjoy the advantages of the affiliate marketing program.

Understanding the Nuts and Bolts of Affiliate Marketing

September 13, 2006 by Ruth · Comment

Affiliate marketing is basically an extension of the traditional marketing promotion technique adapted to the Internet’s virtual marketplace where businesses sell products and services online to clients.  To date, one of the most successful and effective affiliate marketing programs is Amazon.  Their affiliate program has generated a great source of revenue for the company and their affiliates.

In an affiliate marketing program, a merchant (or company) grants permission to sub-merchants (affiliates) to promote their products or services; in return the affiliate gets a percentage of each sale generated through their efforts (the website links). The affiliate is responsible for sending targeted visitors to a vendor to buy the product, which in turn generates the sales from which they get commissions. This is one of the primary reasons webmasters affiliate their sites with complimentary products and services.

How then does a would-be sub-merchant (affiliate) profit from affiliate marketing?

Although there is no guarantee for success if you engage in the affiliate marketing online business, there are a number of fundamental marketing principles that you need to observe and follow in order to earn your commissions.

1.  Customize your website content to compliment the affiliate products and services you market. You stand to gain more commissions by promoting goods and services if what you sell and promote is complimented by your website’s content.  In this manner, you get targeted traffic who are more likely to respond positively and purchase what you offer instead of simply putting a banner or text link that is totally unrelated to your content.

Hypothetically, if you are searching for Pomeranians and visit a website with the relevant information and saw a banner for Hummer vehicle customization kit, it is doubtful you would even be interested to click on the banner, right?

2. Generally, niche websites do better compared to all-purpose sites when it comes to generating affiliate income streams because of their related content.  A visitor visits a niche website for a one specific reason (the site’s content), therefore he or she is more likely to be interested in the complimentary products and services related with the purpose of their visit. Hit-to-sale conversion ratios are considerably higher on websites that affiliate themselves with complimentary products and services.

3. Make sure that you embed your affiliate links directly to your website content. Embedding affiliate links directly into your web content articles guarantees higher response rates, which can definitely result in substantial affiliate income.

4. Always use redirects when placing affiliate links in your content.  You can easily do this by creating a redirect file, which contains your affiliate link, making sure that the page opens in a new browser window.  This also provides protection to your links against affiliate hi-jacking to ensure that you are properly credited for your promotional efforts. Redirect scripts are readily available on Internet script sites.

To put it briefly, in order to be one step ahead in the affiliate marketing program, you should customize your website to fit; make sure to find complimentary products and services that you can promote; integrate your affiliate links directly into your web content and always use redirect scripts to protect your affiliate links from hijackers.

Simple?  Yes, but neglecting to observe the simple and fundamental marketing techniques more often leads to failure instead of success and a steady stream of extra income!
Yours In Success,
